The Tyrrell Family was upset when Ken went to auction off all of the old Tyrrell Grand Prix cars he'd kept through the years. They decided they would pool their money and keep one from the collectors.
The Tyrrells bought the first Tyrrell built, Tyrrell 001. They let it go to the Donington Museum for Grand Prix cars, where it ahs been shown for years. When they met John Delane and his Tyrrell 002 at Goodwood, they saw the painstaking restoration 002 showed off, and started talking to him.
Now, Tyrrell 001 is completely restored to the way it was when it rolled out of the woodshed at Ockham, and they allow Delane to show it off at certain high-profile historic races around the world.
